Dr. Manonthep Phonprapha

Venerable Phramaha Somphong Khunakaro (Unyo) was born on May 27, 1973, in the Northeastern part of Thailand and got ordination as was ordained as Buddhist monk when he was very young. He is highly interested in Western philosophy, especially German philosophers. He went to India for studying M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy. While doing Ph.D., he spent one-year leaning German language at Goethe institute as his thesis title on the field of German philosophy, Edmund Husserl’s phenomenology. He went to various countries to present papers at international conferences in Asia and Europe.

Now, he is a faculty member at International Buddhist Studies College, Mahachulalongkornrajaviyalaya University, and teaches Western philosophy including Buddhism therein.
