The 1st pillar offering under the sacred Mahabodhi tree in Bodhgaya, India by IBSC Alumni

Anumothana Dr. Manonthep Phornpapha, President of the International Buddhist Studies College Alumni Club, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, with his parents Buncha - Busakorn Phornprapha together to make the 1st pillar offering under the sacred Mahabodhi tree in Bodhgaya, India 🇮🇳

The aim of this offering is to preserve and support the branches of the sacred Mahabodhi tree in Bodhgaya, which is the condition of the Bodhi tree is quite critical as many Buddhists are concerned about the health of the sacred Mahabodhi tree, the

Phornpapha family hopes this pillar which is made of brass in a brass smith in Nepal and cost around 500,000 Thai Baht could support the branches not falling into where Buddhist people gathered while visiting the Bodhi tree.

The Buddha was the first to achieve enlightenment under the sacred Mahabodhi tree around 543 BCE and the sacred Mahabodhi tree or Bodhi tree also referred to as the Buddha Tree, is a significant Buddhist symbol.

According to Buddhist traditions, the first human being achieved enlightenment, or became the Buddha, underneath a Tree. "Bodhi" is Sanskrit for "enlightenment," so "the Bodhi tree" translates directly to English as "the tree of enlightenment."

May the blessings of the Buddha and this meritorious deed bring Dr. Manonthep Phornprapha, and his parents Buncha - Busakorn Phornprapha, and his family members and friends to the highest realization of truths and nirvana.
